  • 1 cup rice

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • ½ onion, diced

  • 1–2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 2 cups water

Finish

  • Queso cheese, melted

  • Fresh cilantro, chopped

👩🏽🍳 Instructions

1. Season & Sauté the Steak

Season stew meat generously with taco seasoning and Cajun seasoning.

In a large pot or skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
Sauté steak until browned and cooked through.
Remove from the pot and set aside.

2. Brown the Rice

In the same pot, melt butter.
Add rice and stir continuously, allowing it to lightly brown and toast. This adds depth of flavor.

3. Build the Rice Base

Add diced onion and cook until softened.
Stir in tomato paste and let cook for 1–2 minutes.
Pour in water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat, cover, and simmer until rice is fluffy and liquid is absorbed (about 15–20 minutes).

4. Add the Queso

Once rice is fully cooked, stir in a generous amount of melted queso cheese.

5. Assemble

Top the cheesy rice with the cooked steak.
Drizzle more queso over the steak and sprinkle with fresh cilantro.

6. Serve

Serve hot and enjoy!
